Finland is the eighth largest country in Europe but the most sparsely populated with only 5.5 million inhabitants. There´s lot of lakes which is why Finland is sometimes called „the land of thousand lakes“. In wintertime some lakes are used for swimming and for ice skating. The nature in general attracts tourists especially snow and northern lights.
Finland has a good education system that is free for everyone even at university level. In Finland you can get your driver’s license with 17 years, but you need some good reasons for that. Teenagers usually drive microcars or mopeds until they are old enough.
We have some traditional foods like ruisleipä (rye bread), karjalanpiirakka (karelian pasty) and kalakukko which is a bread pastry filled with different fishes. We also have some candies like salmiakki (salty licorice).
In Finland there´s over 2 million saunas which has a special place in Finnish lifestyle. Some people don´t even move to certain houses if there´s no sauna.
More than 150 languages are spoken in Finland, but the official languages are Finnish and Swedish. Swedish is usually spoken in the coastal region. Finnish language is closer to Estonian than other Scandinavian languages. The Saami languages are for the indigenous people. The spoken language is also different in different parts of Finland and there are some slang words.

Finnland hat ein gutes Bildungssystem, das für alle frei verfügbar ist, sogar auf Universitätsniveau. Den Führerschein kann man bereits mit 17 Jahren erhalten, wenn man dafür gute Gründe aufweisen kann (z.B. langer Weg zur Schule/Arbeit etc.). Jugendliche fahren meist mit Kleinwagen oder Mopeds bis sie alt genug sind.
